Yasuke // Pt. 2 // Arch-Nemesis

“Sometimes your biggest adversary is yourself”

Yasuke (彌介), Also known as Kurusan Yasuke, was an African slave who lived in the sixteenth century and became a samurai in Japan. Little is known about his life and the main source for it is the History of Japan written by Jesuit missionary Luís Fróis. Other stories of Japanese and European travelers evoke Yasuke. He is also a recurring character in Japanese folklore.
